Frenchman Constant Lestienne captured the title of the inaugural Malaga Open, celebrating his second ATP Challenger Tour triumph on Spanish soil. The No. 4 seed of the €45,730 hard-court event held at the Inacua Racquet Centre, one of the largest tennis sports complexes on the Costa del Sol, fought past fifth favourite Emilio Gomez from Ecuador 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final.
Lestienne won 75 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival five times to succeed in two hours and 18 minutes.

“The atmosphere was very nice. Emilio is a great competitor and played a great final, which could have gone either way,” said Lestienne.
By lifting his fourth Challenger career trophy, his first since Alicante, Spain in October last year, Lestienne earned €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
