Four Frenchmen booked their spots in the quarterfinals of the Open de Ciudad Pozoblanco and will join their countryman Ugo Humbert in the stage of the final eight of the €45,730 ATP Challenger Tour hard-court event in southern Spain.

Maxime Janvier outlasted Antoine Bellier from Switzerland 6-7(6), 7-5, 7-6(4). In a close match, the 25-year-old from Creil withstood 17 aces and won three points more than his opponent to prevail after two hours and 21 minutes. Janvier will next take on fellow French Antoine Berrier. The No. 7 seed edged past qualifier Dan Added from France 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-1 in two hours and 10 minutes.

“I like this tournament here,” said Berrier, who was forced to retire in the semi-finals in Pozoblanco last year. “I like the rhythm of life, playing in the afternoon. I really enjoy my time here.”

Up next for Lestienne will be Antoine Escoffier. The eighth-seeded Frenchman beat Michael Geerts of Belgium 6-1, 6-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 29 minutes.
