The ATP Challenger Tour will be back in Germany next week for the ninth edition of the Rhein Asset Open, an €45,730 clay-court event held at the TeReMeer Sport and Tennis Resort in Meerbusch, North Rhine-Westphalia.

World No. 89 Bernabe Zapata Miralles leads the entry list. The 25-year-old from Valencia is bidding for his fourth ATP Challenger crown, his first of the season. He could also become the second Spaniard to lift the trophy in Meerbusch after Ricardo Ojeda Lara in 2017.

A strong German contingent is led by Jan-Lennard Struff. The World No. 123 captured his first title in six years on home soil at the Brawo Open in Braunschweig in early July. Struff, who reached a career-high ranking of World No. 29 in August 2020, missed the European clay swing in spring on the ATP Tour due to a right foot injury and is trying to climb up the rankings again. The 32-year-old Warstein native will be joined by his compatriots Yannick Hanfmann, Mats Moraing, Maximilian Marterer and Cedrik-Marcel Stebe. Florian Mayer has been the only German to triumph in Meerbusch. He succeeded six years ago. 2018 champion Filip Horansky of Slovakia will also be part of the line-up.

“The qualification alone already offers world-class tennis,” said tournament director Marc Raffel and is looking forward to the start of the tournament. Tennis action will kick off with the qualifying on Sunday 11 am. For tickets and more information, please click here.
