M25 Caslano SUI – Elmar Ejupovic succeeds in the Canton of Ticino

The M25 Caslano by Rado, hosted by TC Caslano, concluded with the title win of Elmar Ejupovic. 

The 29-year-old German benefited in the semi-finals from the retirement of Tunisian No. 2 seed Moez Echargui after losing the first set.

No. 4 seed Damien Wenger emerged victorious from the all-Swiss semifinal-battle against 17-year-old wild card entry Mika Brunold in three sets.

No. 3 seeded Ejupovic earned one break more in the championship match and struck six aces to succeed 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in more than three hours. The Wolfsburg native, who practises in Italy, celebrated his seventh singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

“It was my first tournament on the ITF World Tennis Tour since February, because I only played Challenger tournaments in the last months. So my goal was to go for the title here. Before the final I knew that it will be a tough match, so I left everything I had on the court. I am very happy about the title win, but I have to hurry to get to Como, because I have to play a match in the qualifying of the ATP Challenger there in some hours,” Ejupovic told Tennis TourTalk.

M15 Trier GER – Tom Gentzsch wins maiden title on home soil 

Tom Gentzsch won the trophy of the Luxoil Open Trier, held at the venue of TC Trier 1888.

The 18-year-old German fought through the top half of the draw, beating French No. 3 seed Quentin Folliot in the semis in three sets.

Jiri Barnat from the Czech Republic rallied past German No. 4 seed Dominik Boehler in the semi-finals in three sets.

In the title match with both players earning one break, unseeded Gentzsch won 81 per cent of his first-service points to seal a 7-6, 7-6 win after one hour and 46 minutes. The Duisburg native, who is based at the Tennis Academy Moraing, lifted his first trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

After the match, the teenager said: “That’s a weight off my mind, because this is my biggest career title. In the two tiebreaks, I tried to go point by point and I think my will to win was a little bit bigger than my energy. I hope to return to this great tournament next year if I will not compete at higher level.”

M25 Oldenzaal NED – Max Houkes wins maiden trophy on home soil 

Local hero Max Houkes clinched the trophy of the Siers ITF World Tennis Tour Oldenzaal, hosted by OLTC Ready, without losing a set the entire week. 

The Dutch No. 5 seed battled past No. 6 seeded Spaniard Daniel Merida in the stage of the last four. 

German veteran Jeremy Jahn made the last step to the final by defeating Michiel de Kroom in straight sets.

Emmen-born Houkes converted all of his three break-point chances in the championship match and dropped one service game to prevail 7-6, 6-2 in about two hours. The 22-year-old celebrated his first singles title on the Pro Circuit.

M25 Lesa ITA – Gianmarco Ferrari triumphs on home soil

Prato-born Gianmarco Ferrari took the title of the Lesa Cup, held at Tennis Sporting Lesa.

The Italian No. 4 seed advanced to the final with a three-set win versus Juan Ignacio Galarza from Argentina.

Federico Arnaboldi won the all-Italian semifinal-encounter against teenager Gabriele Piraino in straight sets.

Left-handed Ferrari sent down six aces in the title match and won 78 per cent of his first-service points to claim victory with 6-2, 6-3 in 69 minutes. The 21-year-old lifted his second career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour following his maiden title win in Antalya earlier this season.

M25 Poznan POL – Valerio Aboian wins another title on clay

Left-handed Valerio Aboina emerged victorious at the Talex Open 2022, hosted by Akademicki Zwiazek Sportowy Poznan.

The Argentinian No. 5 seed defeated Polish teenager Olaf Pieczkowski in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Patrik Rikl from the Czech Republic knocked down German top favourite Rudolf Molleker in the stage of the last four in three sets.

Twenty-year-old Aboian capitalized on four of his nine break-point chances in the championship match and dropped two service-games to succeed 6-3, 6-4 in 86 minutes. The Buenos Aires native celebrated his third singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them achieved on clay this season.

M25 Roehampton GBR – Antoine Hoang returns to winners’ circle

Antoine Hoang captured the title of the M25 Roehampton tournament, held at the National Tennis Centre of the LTA, to lift his first singles trophy since 2018. 

The 26-year-old Frenchman stopped British wildcard entry Max Basing in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Giles Hussey from Great Britain booked the spot in the final with a three-set victory versus Israeli No. 8 seed Edan Leshem. 

Hyeres-born Hoang won 94 per cent of his first-service points and earned the only two breaks in the title match to seal a 6-4, 6-4 win after 95 minutes. The No. 6 seed celebrated his sixth singles title on the Pro Circuit including his title win at the ATP Challenger Eckental 2018.

M15 Celje SLO – Roko Horvat caps dream week with maiden title 

Roko Horvat capped his dream week by lifting the trophy of the Celje Open, hosted by the venue of Teniski Club Celje.

The Croatian qualifier cruised past Italian No. 3 seed Daniele Capecchi in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Admir Kalender set the final of the Croatian qualifiers with a three-set win against his compatriot Domagoj Biljesko in three sets. 

Twenty-one-year-old Horvat broke his rival of the same age in the championship match eight times and lost five service-games to triumph 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 after more than two hours. The Zagreb native, who plays college tennis for Columbia University, lifted his first trophy on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Lambermont BEL – Simon Beaupain captures maiden trophy on home soil 

The Tournoi International de la Province de Liege, held at the venue of RETC Lambermont, concluded with the title win of Simon Beaupain.

The 23-year-old Belgian fought past his top seeded countryman Gauthier Onclin in the semi-finals in three sets.

Stijn Slump from the Netherlands emerged vicotrious from the semifinal-encounter of the qualifiers against German Marcel Zielinski in straight sets.

No. 5 seeded Beaupain gained one break and 11 points less in the title match but secured a 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 win after two hours and 13 minutes. The Verviers native celebrated his first singles title on the Pro Circuit.

M5 Changwon KOR – Jea Moon Lee wins debut title on home soil

Local hero Jea Moon Lee claimed the trophy of the Orion Dr. Yu Cup Changwon, held at Changwon Municpal Tennis Court.

The 29-year-old Korean took the last step to the final by beating Ryuki Matsuda from Japan in three sets.

No. 5 seed Ajeet Rai from New Zealand ended the run of Japanese qualifier Yuta Kawahashi in the semi-finals in straight sets.

No. 7 seeded Lee gained the only two breaks in the title match to prevail 6-4, 6-4 after one hour and 48 minutes. The Davis Cup player celebrated his first singles title on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Bad Waltersdorf AUT – Peter Heller succeeds in Austria 

Peter Heller was crowned champion at the Bad Waltersdorf Open II, hosted by the Sportaktivpark Bad Waltersdorf. 

The German No. 3 seed eased past Lorenzo Bresciani from Italy in the stage of the last four in straight sets. 

No. 6 seeded Tommaso Compagnucci won the all-Italian semifinal-battle against No. 5 seed Lorenzo Bocchi in three sets.

Thirty-year-old Heller outpointed his opponent in the championship match 80-63 to seal a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 win after more than two hours. The Cham native lifted his 15th career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Cairo EGY – Alex Barrena earns maiden trophy 

Alex Barrena took the title of the Egypt Men’s Future, held at Al-Solaimaneyah Tennis Club. 

The Argentinian teenager finished the run of Brazilian qualifier Elio Jose Ribeiro Lago in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Egyptian veteran Mohamed Safwat advanced to the final with a three-set win against No. 2 seeded Spaniard and last week’s Monastir-champion Jose Fco Vidal Azorin.

Buenos Aires-born Barrena broke his 31-year-old rival in the title match for two times without dropping a service-game to prevail 7-6, 6-1 after one hour and 45 minutes. The 19-year-old celebrated his first singles title on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Cancun MEX – Adam Walton remains solid in North America

Adam Walton emerged victorious at the World Tennis Tour Cancun 2022, hosted by Cancun Tennis Complex. 

The 23-year-old Australian beat Colombian No. 8 seed Alejandro Hoyos Franco in the semi-finals in two sets. 

Andres Andrade from Ecuador battled through the bottom half of the draw, beating Peruvian junior entry Ignacio Buse in the semis in straight sets. 

In the championship with both players earning four breaks, No. 6 seeded Walton scored three points less but secured a 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 win in two hours and 49 minutes. The Home Hill native lifted his third career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour. The college player for the University of Tennessee won all of them in North America.

M15 Monastir TUN – Eliakim Coulibaly captures another title in Monastir

Eliakim Coulibaly clinched the trophy of the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, held at Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir.

The 20-year-old from the Cote d’Ivorie benefited  from the retirement in the semi-finals of Jordan No. 2 seed Abedallah Shelbayh after winning the first four games. 

Australian No. 5 seed Matthew Dellavedova stopped the run of qualifier Vivien Versier from France in the stage of the final four in two sets. 

Left-handed Coulibaly, who is managed and mentored by two-time Grand Slam champion Mary Pierce, gained two breaks and 11 points more in the title match to succeed 7-5, 6-4 after one hour and 51 minutes. Following two championships at the same place last season, the No. 4 seed celebrated his third singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
