The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 90 event defeated his compatriot and second favourite Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-3, 7-6(6) in Saturday evening’s singles final.

“I played at a very high level, I am very happy. I managed to take the first set, playing very aggressively and in the second I tried to hold on as best I could. The goal is to keep playing like this. I think that I did a step into the right direction in the last few weeks. My goal is to continue growing and continue adding points,” said the 29-year-old Carballes Baena.
The World No. 80 earned his 10th career title on the ATP Challenger Tour, his second of the season following his triumph in Tunis, Tunisia in late May. Carballes Baena pocketed €9,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP Ranking points.
