Croatia beat Sweden 2-1 on the third day of action in the Group Stage of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals at the Unipol Arena in Bologna. Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic, the fourth best doubles team in the world, secured the final point for Croatia with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Elias and Mikael Ymer.

Earlier in the day in Group A, the older of the Ymer brothers, Elias, continued his good form of the first day against Argentina by defeating Borna Gojo 6-2, 7-6(2). Borna Coric fought past Mikael Ymer 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Staked by singles victories from Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz, the United States defeated Kazakhstan in Glasgow, 2-1, to move to 2-0 in Group Stage play and put itself one step closer to qualifying for the ultimate Davis Cup Final stage in Malaga, Spain.
