CAMPINAS/STARNBERG, October 10, 2022

Heavy rain in Campinas postponed the singles final of the Campeonato Internacional de Tenis to Monday. The match between Peruvian No. 2 seed Juan Pablo Varillas and British qualifier Jan Choinski was in the second set, when bad weather suspended play. After more than three hours of waiting, the organizers decided to postpone the match to the next day. The longest-running ATP Challenger Tour event in Brazil is hosted by the Sociedade Hipica de Campinas.

The final started an hour late due to bad weather in Campinas. In the first set, Choinski gained the lead thanks to his powerful serve. The 1.96m player used his strong serve to take the initiative from the second ball.

In the 10th game, the World No. 457 took the opening set 6-4 benefiting from a double fault of Varillas. In the following the 2019 champion, who is trying to become the first two-time winner in Campinas, improved his performance and broke Choisnki in the first game. With Varillas leading 3-2 in the second set, the final was suspended and is scheduled to resume Monday at 10 am local time.
