MUNICH, November 9, 2022

Defending champion Holger Rune will compete in next year’s BMW Open by American Express. This was announced by the organizers of the ATP 250 tournament on Tuesday. The clay-court event will be held from April 15 to 23, 2023 at the MTTC Iphitos in Munich.

The #NextGenATP Dane moved past Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime before edging six-time champion Novak Djokovic to cap a stunning run to his maiden ATP Masters 1000 crown at last week’s Rolex Paris Masters. Rune cracked the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings at just 19 years old. In early May at this year’s BMW Open by American Express, Rune lifted his maiden trophy on the ATP Tour.

“Holger is a highly talented and exciting young player who we have already trusted with a wildcard at the BMW Open by American Express 2022. We are of course delighted that he is currently playing so successfully and even more so that he will be coming back to us in Munich next year,” said tournament director Patrik Kühnen.
