Genaro Alberto Olivieri of Argentina has clinched his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour. The World No. 212 lifted the trophy of the 21st edition of the Uruguay Open hosted by the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in Montevideo. The $53,120 clay-court event concluded on Monday after the singles final between Olivieri and second-seeded Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry was suspended after the second set on Sunday due to rain.

After two even tie-breaks in the first two sets, the 24-year-old Bragado native had the better ending, winning 6-7(3), 7-6(5), 6-3. Olivieri withstood seven aces, broke his rival four times and won 51 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in three hours and 31 minutes of play.

Following two triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour, Olivieri earned his first Challenger crown and pocketed $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
