Dalibor Svrcina captured his second ATP Challenger title on home soil by winning the 13th edition of the Unicredit Czech Open held at the TK Prostejov. The 20-year-old Czech beat his compatriot and No. 5 seed Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2 in Saturday’s singles final of the €118,000 clay-court event.
Svrcina battled his way to the championship match through the top half of the draw with victories over Luciano Darderi of Italy, seventh-seeded Swede Elias Ymer, local wild card entry Jakub Mensik and No. 6 seed Lukas Klein from Slovakia.
The World No. 232 capitalized on four of his five break-point chances in the final to prevail after one hour and 42 minutes.

“I was nervous before the match, but it became better the longer the match lasted. I was able to get Tomas into longer rallies. I had a good rhythm in those rallies and won most of the points. This is my most beautiful victory,” said Svrcina, who is based at the TK Prostejov.
By lifting his second ATP Challenger career trophy following another triumph at home at the 2021 Prague Challenger, the Ostrava native earned €16,202 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
