STARNBERG, June 19, 2023

The grass-court season continues on the ATP Tour this week, with ATP 500 events in Halle and London.

Daniil Medvedev of Russia and Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece lead the way at the Terra Wortmann Open in Germany, where Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Nick Kyrgios of Australia also compete. The top seed will start in a first-round match against a qualifier or lucky loser. Should Medvedev advance to the second round, he could face a rematch of his 2022 semi-final against home favourite Oscar Otte. He chases a tour-leading sixth title of 2023.

Second seed Tsitsipas opens his campaign in Westphalia against Frenchman Gregoire Barrere. Sinner will make his Halle debut against Richard Gasquet of France.

Alcaraz top seed at The Queen’s Club

World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain makes his debut at the Cinch Championships, where he is the top seed.

“I arrived in London Saturday morning and I had my first practice on grass yesterday,” Alcaraz said during his pre-tournament press conference on Sunday. “I was not able to practise too much at home as we have no grass courts. I need to adapt my movement and shots on the grass, but I am really happy with the practice I have had here.”

The 20-year-old from Murcia will begin the quest for his fifth tour-level title of the season against French qualifier Arthur Fils.

Record five-time champion Andy Murray, who captured back-to-back ATP Challenger grass-court titles in Surbitan and Nottingham over the past two weeks, and Cameron Norrie carry home hopes on the lawns in London.
