STANFORD/STARNBERG, August 19, 2023

Emilio Nava and Constant Lestienne will play the singles final of the inaugural Golden Gate Open. Nava won Friday’s battle of the US-American qualifiers with Tristan Boyer, rallying 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-1. The 21-year-old Californian native fired 11 aces and won 71 per cent of his first-service points to advance in one hour and 50 minutes.

Lestienne, No. 4 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 hard-court tournament being held at the Stanford Taube Tennis Center, benefited from the retirement of second favourite Yosuke Watanuki, who was forced to withdraw from the match with an ankle injury.

Nava is bidding for his third ATP Challenger Tour career title following his triumphs in Shymkent, Kazakhstan last year and Modena, Italy in early July. Lestienne could lift his seventh Challenger career trophy, his first of the season. The pair will meet for the first time.
