VANCOUVER/STARNBERG, September 20, 2023
The top stars of the ATP Tour will be in action this week and have already arrived in Vancouver for the sixth edition of the Laver Cup. Players from Team Europe and Team World will compete in the hard-court event at Rogers Arena from September 22-24.
After notching its first victory in four editions of the team event last year, John McEnroe’s Team World will be led by US-American stars Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe. Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe will look to its Top 10 stars Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, Andrey Rublev from Russia and Casper Ruud of Norway to lead its charge as it seeks an away victory in Canada.
Before the main action kicks off on Friday, players dedicated time to perfecting their skills on the tennis court, while others enjoyed some downtime away from the venue. Hubert Hurkacz from Poland and Team Europe’s Vice Captain, Thomas Enqvist, opted for a change of pace on Tuesday as they tried their hand at golf, showcasing their putting abilities.
Meanwhile, Ben Shelton from the United States and his compatriot Tiafoe had the opportunity to spend time with another prominent sports figure who is gaining recognition in North America – Elias Pettersson, who plays for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.
