CHENGDU, September 21, 2023 (Press Release)
In its ongoing commitment to providing players with enriching cultural experiences, the Chengdu Open 2023 presented a captivating evening boat tour along the picturesque Jin River this evening.
Great Briton Julian Cash and US-American Robert Galloway, the top-seeded doubles partners, fresh from their first-round victory this evening, had the privilege of enjoying this serene yet illuminating journey that offered a unique perspective on the city of Chengdu.
The Jin River, often hailed as the lifeblood of Chengdu’s rich heritage and culture, has been an integral part of the lives of Sichuan locals for generations. It has woven a profound connection between the people and their environment, becoming a symbol of Chengdu’s identity.
The evening’s program included a tranquil cruise leading up to the renowned An Shun Bridge. This allowed the players to bask in the beauty of the river while receiving enlightening insights into its historical and cultural significance on the boat radio. While aboard the boat, a special light show illuminated an adjacent building, narrating the unique history of the river and adding a touch of magic to this unforgettable experience.
“It’s been fantastic to come out on a boat. It’s obviously a very different experience and it’s great we had this opportunity. It’s been a lot of fun. Seeing the bridge behind me, the lights and experiencing a different culture – it’s pretty special,” said Cash.
“It’s really special to be part of this. Seeing the lights, seeing the culture, seeing the beautiful city is amazing. Something I thought I’d never experience in my life. Feels good to be here. Chengdu looks like it’s got a lot going on. Cool restaurants and happening places. Looking forward to checking some of them out,” said Galloway.
