Tomas Machac from the Czech Republic has claimed the title of the 10th edition of the Open de Vendée held at the Vendespace Arena in Mouilleron-Le-Capitf, France. The No. 8 seed of the €118,000 ATP Challenger Tour event beat British qualifier Arthur Fery 6-3, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
Machac battled his way to the championship match with wins in the bottom half of the draw against Gijs Brouwer from the Netherlands, local wild card entry Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Luca Nardi of Italy and French wild card Lucas Pouillan.
The 96th-ranked Machac sent down six aces and won 79 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 19 minutes.

This win marked Machac’s second title in two weeks, following his triumph at the Open d’Orléans, and his sixth overall. The 22-year-old Beroun native pocketed €16,020 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
