Two of the top contenders for the title at the XIX Challenger Ciudad de Guayaquil Copa Banco Guayaquil, Federico Coria from Argentina and Alejandro Tabilo of Chile, came back from behind in their respective matches to advance to the quarterfinals.
Top seed Coria, a finalist here in Ecuador last year, overcame Italian Franco Agamenone 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday. The 31-year-old Rosario native converted five of his nine break-point chances to prevail after two hours and 21 minutes.

Coria will face 2021 Guayaquil champion Tabilo, who defeated Brazilian Matheus Pucinelli De Almeida 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. The No. 5 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court event sent down six aces and won 65 per cent of his first-service points to advance in two hours and four minutes.
