Swedish youngster Elias Ymer upset top-seed Lukas Rosol 7-6, 6-2. The 20-year-old, who lost to the Czech at Roland Garros last year in the pair’s only previous meeting, sent down six aces and won 75% of his first service points to reach the stage of the final four for the second time this season.
Ymer will face Carlos Berlocq in the stage of the final four. The world number 147 from Argentina took out third seed Rogerio Dutra Silva, rallying 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Berlocq saved seven of the 10 break points he faced, converting four of his own to prevail in two hours and 25 minutes.
Thiago Monteiro eased past Marek Michalicka, winning 6-3, 6-1. The 21-year-old Brazilian didn’t face a break point, converting four of his own to advance after only 57 minutes.
Monteiro will take on Renzo Olivo next. The world number 161 from Argentina won 72% of his first service points and 98 of the total 184 points played to seal a 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 victory over Tristan Lamasine.
