Zarazua, the great-niece of former Mexican Davis Cup player Vicente Zarazua, had suffered a loss in the semi-finals last week during the Argentina Open. Parry reached the Montevideo Open final for the second time, having won the tournament in 2021 and being a finalist in Buenos Aires as well.
“I promise to return next year,” said Zarazua, emphasizing the warmth of the audience. “Without the spectators in the stands, it would have been impossible to win,” added the player, who concluded her 2023 season with this triumph in Uruguay.
