US-American teenager Nishesh Basavareddy has advanced to his second career ATP Challenger Tour semi-final. The 19-year-old Californian beat 18-year-old local wild card entry Trevor Svajda 6-2, 6-2 on Friday at the UAMS Health Little Rock Open being held at the Rebsamen Tennis Center.
Junior World No. 3 Basavareddy, who won the 2022 US Open Boys’ doubles title with Ozan Baris and is seeking his maiden trophy on the Pro Circuit, capitalized on all of his six break-point chances and won 61 per cent of the total points played to succeed in only 58 minutes.

Next up for Basavareddy will be Yuta Shimizu of Japan, who ended the run of US-American qualifier Rudy Quan, winning 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 47 minutes.
In the top half of the draw, Mitchell Krueger from the United States knocked out top seed Alexis Galarneau of Canada 6-3, 6-1. The No. 6 seed of the $82,000 hard-court event in Arkansas struck three aces and won 84 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in 62 minutes.
Mitchell will next take on either his compatriot Brandon Holt or No. 8 seed Abdullah Shelbayh of Jordan. Their quarterfinal match was canceled and postponed to Saturday due to rain.
