HAMBURG, June 1, 2024 (Press Release)

With just over six weeks until the first serve at Rothenbaum, preparations for the Hamburg Open (July 13-21, 2024) are in full swing. The 118th edition of the clay-court classic in the Hanseatic city promises to be a milestone in the tournament’s history both on and off the courts.

This Summer, visitors on-site will enjoy a varied fan experience in a summer festival atmosphere at the Hamburg Open grounds – featuring exciting theme days for young and old and a unique entertainment program. This year, the culinary offerings will also be exceptional. Another highlight on the courts is the U16 youth tournament “European Summer Cup.”

Every tournament day at the Hamburg Open this year will feature theme days. The first day (July 13) of the ATP 500 event will be the “Environmental Day.” Following are “Kids Day,” “Clubs Day,” “Ladies Day,” and “Next Gen Day.” The series concludes on Thursday with “Active City Day,” where inclusion will play a significant role. Starting Friday (July 19), the focus will shift to the youth. Alongside the men’s tournament, the traditional “European Summer Cup” for players under 16 will be held on the Rothenbaum courts.

The “European Summer Cup” is Europe’s oldest junior team event. Organized by Tennis Europe and dating back to the 1950s, the Summer Cups bring together Europe’s best young players for a prestigious team competition. U16 players have the opportunity to qualify for the Team World Championships.

The “Clubs Day” on Sunday (July 14) will also be dedicated to young tennis talent. 100 children from 10 selected tennis clubs in Hamburg and the surrounding area will have the chance to participate in a „clinic”. They will train on the Centre Court at Rothenbaum with one or two ATP players – undoubtedly a “once in a lifetime” experience.

Spectators at the Hamburg Open will also be well catered for: In the fan zone, 15 food trucks will enhance the tournament visit with culinary delights. Alongside local specialties and international dishes, there will be vegetarian food options. Festival vibes will emerge when selected matches from the ATP tournament are broadcast on a screen in the fan zone. Musical entertainment is also provided. Fun is guaranteed as spectators can embark on their own virtual reality tour at certain stands and enjoy the fan cam surprises on court.
