The European Open has added World No. 11 Stefanos Tsitsipas to its participants list for this year’s tournament. The two-time Grand Slam finalist from Greece will be making his third appearance in Antwerp this fall at the ATP 250 indoor hard-court event, which runs from October 13-20 at Lotto Arena.

“This is a moment every tennis fan looks forward to,” tournament director Dick Norman said in a statement Thursday.

Tsitsipas, 25, was a singles semifinalist last year and won the doubles title with his brother Petros at Antwerp. He has won nine titles on the ATP Tour, including the 2019 ATP Finals, and is a three-time Monte-Carlo champion.

“We are very excited about Stefanos Tsitsipas’ participation in our tournament,” Norman added. “Stefanos’ dedication and achievements are an inspiration to many. We are convinced that he is a top favorite of Belgium’s largest tournament.

“There is no doubt that Tsitsipas’ presence will delight many tennis fans. His abundance of talent, passion, and the most beautiful backhand in the circuit are sights you must see with your own eyes.”
