Daniel Altmaier joins the line-up of the Hamburg Open. The ATP 500 clay-court event is scheduled for July 13 to 21, 2024 at the Rothenbaum Tennis Complex. The 25-year-old German received a wild card into the main draw. This was announced by organizers on Thursday.

Altmaier will make his sixth appearance in Hamburg. The current World No. 77 reached the quarterfinals last year after beating French veteran Richard Gasquet and Russia’s Andrey Rublev. He eventually fell to Zhizhen Zhang of China in two sets.

“I am excited to return to Hamburg and play in front of my home fans. Rothenbaum is pure tradition. It is an honor to come back here,” said Altmaier, who stayed on clay after the French Open at Roland-Garros to compete in two ATP Challenger Tour events in Italy. He will now start his transition to the grass by playing at The Championships in Wimbledon.

Altmaier joins the German contingent at the Hamburg Open led by Alexander Zverev and Dominik Koepfer. Holger Rune of Denmark, Argentines Sebastian Baez and Francisco Cerundolo as well as 2022 champion Lorenzo Musetti of Italy will also be part of this year’s field.
