Dellien Dominates At Iasi Open

Hugo Dellien was crowned champion of the Concord Iasi Open. The No. 6 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 clay-court event defeated Javier Barranco Cosano of Spain 6-1, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.

Dellien fought his way into the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw over Latvian lucky loser Robert Strombachs, Abdullah Shelbayh of Jordan, Frenchman Valentin Royer and Paraguayan youngster Adolfo Daniel Vallejo

The 31-year-old Bolivian sent down four aces, won 81 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival five times to succeed in one hour and five minutes.

By winning his 11th ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first of the season, Dellien collected €16,550 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.

A week earlier, Hugo’s younger brother Murkel celebrated his first ATP Challenger Tour title victory in Brasov, Romania. This achievement makes the Delliens the first brothers to secure ATP Challenger Tour titles in the same season since 2022, when Argentines Francisco and Juan Manuel Cerundolo accomplished the same feat.
