ITF Press Release, July 15, 2024
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has today confirmed the players nominated to represent their nations at the 2024 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage, taking place from 10 to 15 September. Wimbledon Champion Carlos Alcaraz will represent Spain in Valencia (Group B), with World No.1 Jannik Sinner set to lead defending world champions Italy in Bologna (Group A).
Other nominations include Alex de Minaur (Australia), Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada), Ugo Humbert (France), Sebastian Baez (Argentina), Jack Draper (Great Britain), Sebastian Korda (USA) and Jiri Lehecka (Czechia).
The cities of Bologna (Group A), Valencia (Group B), Zhuhai (Group C) and Manchester (Group D) will host the Group Stage events, where four teams will play in a round robin format at each venue.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the Final 8 in Malaga (19-24 November), where they will play in a knockout competition for the right to be crowned world champions.
David Haggerty, ITF President, said: “It will be exciting to see so many of the world’s best players in action for their nations in September. Many of those named in their nations’ squads today will also play at the Paris 2024 Olympic Tennis Event, with this year’s calendar allowing the game’s elite players ample opportunity compete in their nation’s colours. Last year’s Davis Cup Final 8 was an incredible week of tennis played in front of sell-out crowds, so I’m sure all 16 Group Stage nations will be desperate to book their place in Malaga this time round.”
Feliciano Lopez, 2024 Davis Cup Finals Tournament Director, said: “Representing your nation is a huge honour, and the strength of the teams announced today prove how much Davis Cup means to players around the world. The 2023 Finals Group Stage was an incredible week, with high-quality tennis played at each venue – and I am certain that the 2024 Finals will be no different.”
