Ten Spanish players will compete in the main draw of the Open Ciudad de Pozoblanco Memorial Fabián Dorado 2024. ATP Challenger in Pozoblanco.

Albert Pedrico, Benjamin Winter and Ivan Marrero secured their spots in Monday’s final round of the qualifying stage of the ATP Challenger 50 tournament, which is celebrating its 29th edition this week in Pozoblanco, Cordoba. None of them were favorites against higher-ranked opponents, but they pulled off upsets to join the main draw of the hard-court event.

Canarian Ivan Marrero defeated former Pozoblanco champion Kenny De Schepper of France, who was the third seed, with a score of 6-3, 6-4. This victory allows Marrero to compete in the main draw of an ATP Challenger Tour tournament for the second time in his career.

Even more surprising was the elimination of the top seed in the qualifying stage, Portuguese Tiago Pereira, by Almerian Benjamin Winter. Winter played nearly flawlessly, not facing a single break point and converting three out of four break points to secure a more comfortable win than expected.

The match between Catalan Albert Pedrico and Costa Rican Jesse Flores was more competitive. Pedrico broke his opponent’s serve in each set, ultimately winning in straight sets. The young Catalan will debut in the main draw of an ATP Challenger tournament.

Joining them in the main draw are Italians Fabrizio Andaloro and Peter Buldorini, as well as Bulgarian Alexander Donski, who defeated Patrick Brady in the most closest encounter of the day by the score of 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-4.
