Tennis Channel Bundesliga Stars To Represent Their Countries At Olympic Games

Tennis Channel Bundesliga

STARNBERG, July 25, 2024

The Tennis Channel Bundesliga is considered as the strongest tennis league in the world, thanks to its numerous Top 100 stars in the ATP Ranking. If proof of the talent in Germany’s top division was ever needed, the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris provide it.

Nearly a third of the men’s singles field – 21 out of 64 players – are part of a Bundesliga team. Stars from nine clubs, representing 13 nations, will compete on the famous clay courts at the Stade Roland Garros over the next two weeks.

Most Tennis Channel Bundesliga players will represent Argentina, as all four men’s singles players this season play for three different clubs. Sebastian Baez and Tomas Martin Etcheverry are teammates for both country and club, representing Badwerk Gladbacher HTC. Mariano Navone plays for Tennispark Bärchen Versmold, while Francisco Cerundolo represents TC Großhesselohe.

The Brazilian duo of Thiago Monteiro (Team Marc O’ Polo Rosenheim) and Thiago Seyboth-Wild (Versmold) are the only hopes for their nation in Paris. Seyboth-Wild’s Versmold teammates Ugo Humbert (France) and Nuno Borges (Portugal) will also be part of the competition.

Gladbach is the team with the most Olympians in their squad. In addition to the previously mentioned Baez and Etcheverry, the men’s selection includes Czech Jakub Mensik, Hungarian Fabian Marozsan, Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, and Spaniard Jaume Munar.

Spain and Hungary each have another Bundesliga star in their ranks, with Pedro Martinez (TK GW Mannheim) and Marton Fucsovics (FTC Palmengarten), respectively.

TC Bredeney is considered the unofficial “German Davis Cup Team” due to its strong German contingent, and two of them will compete in Paris – Jan-Lennard Struff and Maximilian Marterer. Marterer was a late addition to the Olympic squad, replacing the injured Soonwoo Kwon and he describes his participation as a “dream come true.” Also joining is Mannheim’s Dominik Koepfer, who returns for his second Olympic Games.
