Donna Vekic and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova produced the first major surprises in the singles draws at the Paris 2024 Olympic Tennis Event on Tuesday, defeating Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini, respectively.

“I think that was maybe one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever experienced in my life,” said Vekic. “You don’t really get that during Roland Garros. It was very special. They were definitely pushing me in the first set. In the end it was tough conditions. It was hot for us playing, but I’m sure it was hot for them watching as well.”

Other singles winners on day four included Angelique Kerber, Iga Swiatek, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev, while the all-star doubles teams of Carlos Alcaraz/Rafael Nadal and Daniel Evans/Andy Murray both won in match tiebreaks to advance to the quarterfinals.
