Marton Fucsovics and Mikhail Kukushkin will compete in Saturday’s final of the €106,500 Uni Credit Czech Open in Prostejov.
The qualifier from Hungary knocked-off fourth seed Inigo Cervantes, winning 6-2, 6-2. The 24-year-old saved both break points he faced, converting four of his own to prevail in 69 minutes.
Kukushkin defeated NextGen star Karen Khachanov 6-1, 6-4. The tournament’s number six from Kazakhstan, who ended Jiri Vesely‘s bid to three-peat in Prostejov in the quarterfinal, won 70% of his first service points and capitalized on four of his eight break point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 19 minutes
Kukushkin and Fucsovics will face each other for the second time on the tour with the Kazakh winning the only previous meeting at the Istanbul Challenger 2013 in straight sets.
Later in the afternoon, Aliaksandr Bury and Igor Zelenay clinched the doubles trophies, winning the final 6-4, 6-4 over Julio Peralta and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo in one hour and 13 minutes.
