Chilean Matias Soto and Brazilian Mateus Alves claimed the doubles title of the Dove Men+Care Challenger Antofagasta 2024, which concludes this Sunday, September 29, at the Autoclub in the port city in Northern Chile.

The doubles final took place Saturday during the seventh day of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 clay-court tournament. No. 5 seeds Soto and Alves defeated Argentine brothers Leonardo and Valerio Aboian 6-1, 6-4 in exactly one hour of play.

Soto, who will soon embark on a five-week tour in Brazil, expressed his joy over the victory and confirmed that he will continue partnering with Alves. “It’s very special to win at home. It’s been a great week and a great final. We knew it would be tough, I had played against them recently in another final, and today we won in the third set. This is my second Dove tournament with Mateus, and we’ve won both, so we’ll keep playing together,” said Soto.

Vallejo to face Cerundolo for singles title

In the first singles semi-final Adolfo Daniel Vallejo of Paraguay defeated third-seeded Dutchman Jesper De Jong 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 48 minutes.

I’m very happy to be in the final,” said Vallejo. “I really enjoyed the match, I beat a great opponent, and I’m very pleased. The toughest challenge was the rival himself. He’s a very complete player, so I had to play almost perfectly to win. Tomorrow I face another tough match against Juanma, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

In the second semi-final, Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerundolo beat his compatriot Andrea Collarini 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 33 minutes.

“I’m very happy. I played well, hitting my forehand strongly and serving well. Finals are all about enjoying the moment and playing your best tennis. I want to continue playing the way I have been and hopefully win,” said No. 8 seed Cerundolo.

The singles final of the Dove Men+Care Challenger Antofagasta 2024 will take place on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. local time.
