The Brasília Champions Legends 2024 has crowned its champion. Team Arena BRB Mané Garrincha, featuring Tommy Robredo of Spain, Brazilian Gilbert Klier Júnior, and Colombian Juan Cabal, won the international exhibition tournament by defeating Team Arena BRB Nilson Nelson, which included Spaniard Fernando Verdasco and Brazilians João Menezes and Marcelo Demoliner. The event was held from September 27 to 28 in the parking lot of Arena BRB Nilson Nelson in Brasilia, Brazil’s capital city.

After trailing on the first day of competition with only one win, Team Arena BRB Mané Garrincha secured a comeback and claimed the title. The tie ended 3-3, but Robredo, Klier, and Cabal emerged victorious, winning more sets.

On Saturday, Klier, playing at home, defeated João Menezes 4-0, 4-2, leveling the overall score. “It’s always great to play at home, especially in a tournament like this with such big stars. Winning the title makes it even better,” said Klier.

Next, former World No. 5 Robredo gained his first win of the event with a 4-3(2), 4-1 victory over Verdasco, a former World No. 7. This marked Robredo’s seventh win against Verdasco in 12 encounters. “I’m very happy to be here in Brazil, a country I love, and to participate in this tournament. I’m a little rusty, but it was great to play with my friends from the circuit,” Robredo said.

Team Nilson Nelson won the final doubles match, with Verdasco and Demoliner beating Robredo and Cabal 4-3(3), 4-3(3).
