Taro Daniel of Japan has clinched the title of the 2024 Taipei OEC Open. The No. 2 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 Tour event defeated third-seeded Australian Adam Walton 6-4, 7-5 in Sunday’s singles final.
Daniel advanced to the championship match with wins over US-American Alafia Ayeni, Frenchman Benoit Paire, No. 5 seed Coleman Wong from Hong Kong as well as fourth favourite Chun-hsin Tseng of Chinese Taipei.
The World No. 89 fired 11 aces and won 80 per cent of his first-service points in the title match. Daniel broke Walton’s serve three times to prevail after one hour and 53 minutes.

By winning his ninth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first of the season, Daniel $22,370 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points.
The Taipei OEC Open offered a total prize pool of $164,000 and was held at the Taipei Tennis Center. Taipei is a vibrant blend of modernity and tradition.
