Thanasi Kokkinakis has captured the title of the 2024 Perpetual NSW Open in Sydney. The No. 2 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 hard-court event beat top seed and Sydney local Rinky Hijikata 6-1, 6-1 in Sunday’s all-Australian singles final.

Kokkinakis advanced to the championship match with wins over US-American Christian Langmo, home favourite Philip Sekulic, Hikaro Hishaishi of Japan and No. 3 seed Tristan Schoolkate from Australia.

Kokkinakis was in total control of the final. The 28-year-old Adelaide native struck 10 aces and won 84 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and nine minutes.

“It has been a great week for me and my team. This is my first ATP Challenger title on home soil which makes it a very special win for me.” Kokkinakis said.

“Thank you to everyone who put the tournament on, despite the rain delays everything still managed to run smoothly and I have really enjoyed my time here at the NSW Open.

“Thank you to the fans for also coming out today and supporting Rinky and I.” Kokkinakis finished.

Kokkinakis lifted his seventh ATP Challenger career trophy, his second of the season following his triumph at the Sarasota Open, Florida in April. He earned $11,200 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.

The third edition of the Perpetual NSW Open offered a total prize pool of $82,000 and was held at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Center.
