Nikoloz Basilashvili has clinched his first title in more than three years by winning the 2024 Sisley Seoul Open. The 32-year-old Georgian defeated top seed Taro Daniel of Japan 7-5, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
Basilashvili, who struggled with an elbow injury and had to undergo three surgeries last year, reached the championship match with wins over No. 7 seed Terence Atmane from France, Tung-Lin Wu of Chinese Taipei, Japanese qualifier Hiroki Moriya as well as a walkover from Frenchman Antoine Escoffier.
Basilashvili hit 10 aces and won 85 per cent of his first-service points. He broke his rival three times to seal victory in one hour and 27 minutes.

The five-time ATP Tour champion, who celebrated his last triumph at the 2021 BMW Open in Munich, earned his sixth career title on the Challenger Circuit, his first since the Neckarcup in Heilbronn eight years ago. Basilashvili pocketed $18,230 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
The eighth edition of the Seoul Open offered a total prize pool of $133,250 and was hosted by the Olympic Tennis Court in Seoul, the vibrant capital of South Korea.
