An all-Brazilian final marked the end of the 2024 Lajeado Open ITF World Tennis Tour M25 tournament on Sunday morning. The match was held on Center Court of Clube Tiro e Caça, where Matheus Pucinelli de Almeida and Daniel Dutra da Silva delivered an impressive display of skill, captivating hundreds of fans. After nearly two hours of play, 23-year-old Pucinelli emerged victorious, winning 6-2, 7-5, to secure his fifth career title on the Pro Circuit.
Reflecting on his victory, Pucinelli expressed his excitement, saying, “It felt amazing. I was able to control the first set, and in the second, I tried to maintain the same level of aggression, but he also raised his game. It was tough, but enjoyable for the crowd and rewarding for me. I really appreciated the crowd and the organizers; the club treated me exceptionally well. This tournament has the potential to become a Challenger-level event.”
Ney Arruda Filho, the coordinator of the Lajeado Open, highlighted the success of this year’s edition, emphasizing the good weather, which had been a challenge in previous years, and a strong player lineup. He also introduced new events like the Lajeado Open Sunset, Kids Day, and Ladies Day, which drew large audiences throughout the week. Sunday’s perfect weather saw packed stands, rounding off what Arruda Filho described as an “all-around perfect” tournament.
The 2024 Lajeado Open was supported by Fasa/Darling Ingredients and Imec Supermercados through the Federal Sports Incentive Law of Brazil’s Ministry of Sports, alongside local companies Construtora Diamond and Four Exportação, as well as Banco BRB via the Brazilian Tennis Confederation.
