TURIN/STARNBERG, November 17, 2024
Jannik Sinner has clinched the title of the 55th edition of the Nitto ATP Finals to become the first Italian champion of the season-ending event. In an electrifying atmosphere inside a packed Inalpi Arena in Turin, the World No. 1 defeated US-American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s championship match.
It is a rematch of their round robin encounter on Tuesday, won by Sinner 6-4 6-4, the 23-year-old Italian dominated the action again. Sinner struck 14 aces and won 83 per cent of his first-service points. He broke his rival two times to seal victory in one hour and 24 minutes.

“It’s amazing. It’s been an amazing week – my first title in Italy and it’s something very, very special,” said Sinner, who didn’t drop a set all week on home soil.
“I tried to play the best possible tennis I can. That was the key.
“It was a very high-level tournament from my side and at times I couldn’t play better so I’m very happy.”
Sinner has become the first man to earn 70 wins and 8 titles in a season since Andy Murray in 2016. After capturing both hard court Grand Slam titles at Australian Open and US Open this year, the South Tyrolean joins Novak Djokovic (2015, 2023) and Roger Federer (2004, 2006-07) as the only players to capture the three biggest hard-court events in a season.
