The opening day of the YPF Rosario Challenger, Argentina’s most prestigious ATP Challenger Tour event with a total prize purse of $200,000, saw World No. 140 Juan Manuel Cerundolo deliver a flawless debut. However, the day was not as fortunate for Renzo Olivo, the Rosario native and former Davis Cup champion. Playing in front of a packed Court 1, Olivo started strong, winning the first set 7-5 against India’s Sumit Nagal. But the eighth seed quickly took control, playing near-perfect tennis in the final two sets to claim a dominant 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The biggest upset of the day came from Brazil’s Felipe Meligeni Alves, who stunned second seed Alexandre Muller of France with a 6-4, 6-4 win, marking a significant early shake-up in the draw.
