The TennisBase Open saw an action-packed Thursday, with four German players securing their spots in the quarterfinals of the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event in Oberhaching.

Diego Dedura-Palomero (ATP No. 581) was the first home favourite to advance, delivering an impressive performance against Czech David Poljak (ATP No. 1056). The 16-year-old from Berlin, who made history last year by winning an ATP Challenger main draw match as the youngest player of his generation, continued to show his talent on Bavarian soil.

Facing the aggressive 28-year-old Poljak, Dedura-Palomero was dominant on serve and showcased exceptional defensive skills. With two breaks, the left-hander comfortably took the opening set.

He built on that momentum in the second set, racing to a 4-1 lead. Despite missing a match point at 5-4 and briefly surrendering his serve, the German teenager kept his composure to close out the match 6-2, 7-5 after 91 minutes.

The match wasn’t easy because my opponent had a tricky playing style,” Dedura-Palomero reflected. “I played really well for a set and a half but had to stay patient in the end. Clay is my strongest surface, but I’m working on being more aggressive on faster courts.”

Speaking about his brother, who is also competing in Oberhaching, he added: “Having my brother here is special. It’s great to have someone close to talk to. Hopefully, we can both stay in the tournament for a while.”

One of the most gripping matches of the day took place between German Davis Cup veteran Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and former college player Adrian Oetzbach (ATP No. 664).

The 34-year-old Stebe started strong, going up 5-2 in the opening set, only to see 27-year-old Oetzbach stage an incredible comeback, winning five consecutive games to take the set.

Stebe responded in the second set, breaking late to force a decider. Oetzbach took the first break of the final set, but Stebe once again showcased his fighting spirit, coming back from 1-3 down to seal a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Another German to reach the quarterfinals was Marvin Moeller (ATP No. 529), who had to dig deep against Sweden’s Nikola Slavic (ATP No. 1329).

After both players dominated on serve in the first set, 2022 Oberhaching champion Möller edged the tiebreak 7-4. Slavic fought back to level the match, but in the decider, the Hamburg native took early control, securing a 7-6(4), 5-7, 6:- victory after two hours and 45 minutes.

Möller now faces third seed Martin Damm from the United States (ATP No. 469) in the quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Mats Rosenkranz (ATP No. 366) continued his campaign with a hard-fought win over Denmark’s Philip Hjorth (ATP No. 822).

After breaking at 3-2 in the first set, the big-serving German powered his way to a 6-2 win. However, errors crept into his game in the second set, allowing Hjorth to level the match. Rosenkranz regained his dominance in the decider, sealing a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 victory in one hour and 45 minutes.

He now faces Bulgaria’s Iliyan Radulov (ATP No. 535) in the quarterfinals.
