Budkov Kjaer Clinches Glasgow Challenger Trophy

Nicolai Budkov Kjaer joins Joao Fonseca and Alexander Blockx as teenage winners on the ATP Challenger Tour this year. The 18-year-old Oslo native defeated Viktor Durasovic in Sunday’s all-Norwegian singles final of the Lexus Glasgow Challenger

Budkov Kjaer advanced to the championship match in Scotland with wins over sixth-seeded Frenchman Hugo Grenier, Italian qualifier Raul Brancaccio, No. 4 seed Liam Draxl from Canada and Germany’s Max Rehberg.

The World No. 439, who was unranked 12 months ago, withstood six aces and broke Durasovic’s serve two times to seal victory in one hour and 15 minutes.

Following two triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour last year, Budkov Kjaer captured his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour. The former Junior World No. 1 earned €12,980 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.

The fourth edition of the Lexus Glasgow Challenger offered a total prize pool of €91,250 and was held at the Scotstoun Community Tennis Centre.
