Valentin Royer has claimed the title of the Rwanda Challenger. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court event in Kigali beat Slovakian qualifier Andrej Martin 6-1, 6-2 in Saturday’s singles final.
In the pair’s first meeting, Royer dominated the encounter right from the beginning. The struck seven aces and won 74 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in one hour and six minutes.

Royer captured his second ATP Challenger Tour career crown following his maiden triumph at the Sibiu Open in Romania last year. The World No. 182 earned $14,200 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
Martin, a former Top 100 player, was bidding for his 13th Challenger career trophy, his first since 2019 Shymkent in Kazakhstan.
The ATP Challenger Tour will stay in Kigali for another week when the IPRC Kicukiro Ecology Tennis Club hosts the Rwanda Challenger 2 with a total prize purse of $160,000.
