Edas Butvilas has claimed the title of the inaugural CRETE Challenger LYTTOS 1 which was held on the hard courts of the Lyttos Beach Hotel in Hersonissos, Crete. The No. 4 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 50 tournament defeated British qualifier Stuart Parker 6-3, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.
Butvilas converted five of his eight break-point chances and won 57 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 29 minutes.

The 20-year-old Lithuanian, a former Top 10 junior, lifted his second Challenger career trophy following his maiden triumph in Charleston, North Carolina in September last year. Butvilas collected €7,530 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
The awards ceremony for the winner and the runner-up was conducted by Nikos Syrygonakis, Deputy Regional Governor of the Regional Unit of Heraklion, Crete, co-organizer of the event, and Giannis Aslanidis, CEO and Scientific Associate of the EMMETROPIA Mediterranean Eye Clinic in Heraklion, sponsor of the tournaments, accompanied by the organizer and owner of International Tennis Coaching, Apostolos Tsitsipas.
The Crete Challenger continues this week with its second tournament at Lyttos Beach.
