OPATIJA/STARNBERG, March 29, 2025

Luka Mikrut (ATP 360) from Split and Macedonian qualifier Kalin Ivanovski (ATP 1325) have secured their places in the final of the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event in Opaija, the last leg of the 53rd edition of the Istarska Rivijera. The championship match will take place on Sunday at the courts of Tennis Club Opatija in Istria, Croatia.

In Saturday’s semifinal, 20-year-old Mikrut delivered a dominant performance, defeating 27-year-old Spaniard Sergi Perez Contri (ATP 721) with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory. Meanwhile, Ivanovski, also 20 years old, battled past third-seeded Czech Michael Vrbensky (ATP 406) in a hard-fought three-setter, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Mikrut reached his eighth ITF World Tennis Tour final in emphatic fashion, dropping just 15 games across four matches. The experienced Perez Contri managed to break his serve twice—once in each set—but was otherwise outplayed. On Sunday, Mikrut will aim to secure his sixth Istrian Riviera title, though it would be his first in singles, having previously won five of six possible doubles titles in 2023 and 2024. In his previous seven ITF World Tennis Tour singles finals, he has claimed three titles.

For Ivanovski, this marks his ninth career ITF final and his first in nearly two years. The Macedonian has won five of his previous eight finals and will be eager to add another trophy to his collection. The final will also be the first-ever official meeting between Mikrut and Ivanovski.

Hungarian Duo Clinches Doubles Title in Opatija

Karlo Kajin and Deni Zmak once again came agonizingly close to lifting the doubles title at this year’s Istarska Rivijerc, finishing as runners-up for the second time. After falling short in Porec against Emanuel Ivanidevic and Mili Poljicak, the Croatian pair suffered another heartbreak in Opatija, losing to Hungary’s Matyas Fuele and Gergely Madarasz in a tight final, 7-5, 7-6 (5).

Kajin and Zmak will be left ruing missed opportunities, particularly after holding a 4-1 lead in the first set and squandering two set points at 6-5 in the second. However, the Hungarian duo held their nerve in the decisive moments to claim the championship.

The action now shifts to Sunday, where Mikrut and Ivanovski will battle for the singles title and a place in Istrian Riviera his
