MURCIA, April 9, 2025

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has sent a report to the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, offering a highly positive final evaluation of the sixth edition of the Challenger Costa Cálida Region de Murcia, held from March 17 to 23, where Carlos Taberner was crowned champion.

Among the conclusions of the report, the ATP highlights the excellent work carried out by the Murcia-based club, with special praise for the maintenance team, describing their efforts as “brilliant.” “They made it possible for matches to resume after rain delays,” the report states. The ATP also underlines the role of the tournament directors, the wide range of facilities available for both training and rest, and the impressive turnout of spectators during this sixth edition.

This has not been the only recognition received. Iván Martínez Barredo, referee supervisor for the International Tennis Federation (ITF), also sent a letter to the president of Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, Antonio Saura, congratulating the board of directors for their work since taking office. He noted that “in conversations with officials, Murcia is consistently mentioned as the most desirable location to be assigned.”

In response, Saura emphasized the significance of both evaluations, stating, “They put our club and the Region on the international tennis map and show that the Challenger Costa Cálida continues to rise in quality each year — in both organization and level of players.”

Thorough Analysis

The ATP’s report comprises 37 pages that meticulously examine every aspect required for an event of this nature, including security, available courts, accommodation and match facilities, and the technologies used throughout the tournament.

This is not the first time Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919 has received positive feedback from the ATP. Last year, the association issued a similar report, highlighting the club’s logistical capabilities and its potential to host higher-category tournaments within the ATP circuit.
