The Santos Brasil Tennis Cup, part of the ATP Challenger 50 series, is set to return to the São Paulo coast for its second consecutive year and eighth edition overall. The 2025 tournament will take place from May 4 to 11 at the Tenis Clube de Santos, promising a week of high-level tennis and exciting matchups.

As part of the ATP Challenger Tour, the tournament will offer a total prize purse of $60,000 USD, with the champion earning 50 ATP ranking points. This year, players from 15 different countries, not including the Brazilian contingent, are confirmed to participate.

Among the competitors are two past champions looking to make history with a second title in Santos: Renzo Olivo of Argentina, who won in 2016, and his compatriot Alejo Lingua Lavallén, who claimed the trophy in 2024. Lavallén’s victory last year was especially poignant, as he overcame personal challenges, including depression, to rise to the top.

Representing Brazil in the main draw so far are Matheus Pucinelli, Pedro Sakamoto, and Mateus Alves. These names may be joined by others via the qualifying rounds, where five more Brazilian players will battle for one of six available spots. Additionally, three wild cards will be granted by the tournament organizers.

From 2012 to 2016, the Santos crowd witnessed great tennis from renowned players such as Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro, runner-up in 2016; Gastao Elias of Portugal, the 2013 champion; and Ivo Minar of the Czech Republic, who triumphed in 2012. After returning in 2024, the event — organized by Instituto Sports in partnership with Santos Brasil — continues to bring top-level competition back to this historic venue.

“We are thrilled to return to the Tenis Clube de Santos and continue our partnership with Santos Brasil to deliver another major sporting event in the city. Challenger tournaments play a key role in the career of any athlete aiming to reach the top, and hosting it at such a traditional tennis club only adds prestige to the competition,” said Danilo Marcelino, the tournament director.
