Matteo Gigante of Italy has clinched the title of the Roma Garden Open. The No. 7 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 50 tournament emerged victorious from a rain-interrupted singles final on Sunday, beating top seed Vilius Gaubas of Lithuania 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Gigante had to go the distance in all of his previous matches before he received a walkover from Austrian Sandro Kopp in the semi-finals. In front of packed stands at the Tennis Club Garden, the 23-year-old Rome native won 71 per cent of his first-service points and broke Gaubas five times to seal victory in two hours and 13 minutes.

By lifting his fifth ATP Challenger Tour career trophy, his first in his hometown, Gigante earned € 7,530 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
Gaubas finished runner-up at the Roma Garden Open for the second consecutive year. The World No. 149 pocketed € 4,420 in prize money and 30 ATP Ranking points.
The 21st edition of the Roma Garden Open offered a total prize pool of €54,000 and was held on clay at the Tennis Club Garden in the southwest of Rome. Established in 2002, it has built a reputation for offering pure, passionate tennis without the glitz and glamour of the ATP Tour. Past champions like Federico Delbonis, Jerzy Janowicz, Kyle Edmund, and Marco Cecchinato have used the Roma Garden Open as a springboard in their careers. With its unique atmosphere and rich history, it remains a special stop on the ATP Challenger Tour calendar.
