Michael Mmoh and Taro Daniel will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Morelos Open Metaxchange. The ATP Challenger Tour 75 hard-court event is being held at the Hotel Racquet Cuernavaca in Mexico this week.
Mmoh rallied from a set down to overcome fellow US-American Tyler Zink 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 in the stage of the last four on Saturday. The 28-year-old, who is on the comeback trail after injury-riddled seasons, won eight points less than his rival but secured victory to reach his first final since 2023 after two hours and 36 minutes.
Mmoh, who turned professional in 2016, is currently world No. 651 and reached a career-high ranking of No. 81 in September of 2023. Mmoh is a seven-time ATP Challenger Tour champion, with all of his titles coming on hard courts and all on home soil in the United States.

Earlier on Estadio Morelos, Daniel outlasted eighth-seeded US-American Andres Martin 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4. The 33-year-old Japanese, a former world No. 58 currently ranked on 451st position, sent down six aces and won 64 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and 24 minutes. Daniel is seeking his 10th ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first since 2024. Mmoh and Daniel will meet for the first time.
Doubles champions crowned
In other action, Andres Andrade of Ecuador and Federico Agustin Gomez from Argentina captured the doubles title. In a final between two unseeded teams, they defeated the all-Indian combination of Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli and Arjun Kadhe 6-3, 7-6(4). The encounter lasted one hour and 16 minutes.
Andrade and Gomez earned their first team title. They split $4,980 in prize money and collected 75 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
