The release of the official doubles entry list for the 2026 Copa Internacional de Tenis de Campinas, to be held from April 5 to 12 at Sociedade Hipica de Campinas, has highlighted one of the tournament’s main strengths: a highly competitive field with a strong Brazilian presence, including several of the title favorites.

Among the leading contenders are Brazil’s Marcelo Zormann, currently ranked No. 92 in the ATP Doubles Rankings, and Argentina’s Mariano Kestelboim, the defending Campinas doubles champion. The pair enters the tournament as the top seeds. Already this season, they have won Challenger titles in Asuncion and Buenos Aires and finished runner-up at two other events.

“In the last two weeks our schedules did not match, but the partnership has been going well. We have already achieved good results and we are going all-in together in Campinas,” said Zormann.

Brazil will also be strongly represented by several all-Brazilian partnerships, including Gustavo Heide and Eduardo Ribeiro, Pedro Boscardin Dias and Joao Lucas Reis, as well as Luis Britto alongside Paulo Andre Saraiva, increasing the home country’s chances of contending for the title.

The Campinas doubles draw has a significant tradition on the Challenger circuit and has previously featured players who later established themselves among the world’s best. Argentina’s Andres Molteni, a former world No. 7 in doubles, won the title in Campinas in 2015. Maximo Gonzalez, another former top-10 doubles player and winner of 17 ATP titles, lifted the trophy twice, in 2013 and 2017.

Brazil also has notable names in the tournament’s history. Rafael Matos, currently ranked No. 26 in the world in doubles, was champion in Campinas in 2019 and 2021. He has since continued to rise on the circuit, winning 13 career titles and capturing the mixed doubles crown at the 2023 Australian Open alongside Luisa Stefani.

Several Brazilian players will compete in both the singles and doubles draws, facing a demanding schedule throughout the week. Joao Lucas Reis, Pedro Boscardin Dias and Gustavo Heide are all entered in both events, requiring not only physical endurance but also strategic planning to cope with multiple matches on clay.

“I think what tires you the most when you play both draws is the mental side,” Boscardin said. “When you play only singles, you leave the court and can relax, recover and think about the next day. But when you still have doubles, you remain focused on that second match, waiting to go back on court later in the day. That is why I alternate and do not play doubles at every tournament. But in Campinas I will play with Joao.”
