MUNICH, April 10, 2026

The 110th edition of the BMW Open by Bitpanda gets underway on Saturday at the venue of the MTTC Iphitos, and the field for this year’s ATP 500 tournament promises one of the strongest line-ups in the event’s history.

Led by World No. 3 Alexander Zverev, US-American Ben Shelton and Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, a total of six Top 20 players will compete in Munich. They will be challenged by a number of other big names, including Stefanos Tsitsipas, Joao Fonseca and former Grand Slam champion Marin Cilic.

The winner of this year’s tournament will once again receive a special prize. At Friday’s opening press conference at BMW Welt, organisers unveiled the new all-electric BMW iX3 50 xDrive as the champion’s car.

Recently named the “World Car of the Year”, the new iX3 is the first model of BMW’s Neue Klasse generation.

“BMW iX3 is the first model of the Neue Klasse, with which BMW has entered a new era of driving pleasure,” said Tim Beltermann. “The all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle establishes a new design language, sets standards in dynamics and performance and is therefore the perfect winner’s car for this great tournament.”

Beltermann also highlighted the return of the FUTURE ACES initiative, which enters its second year in 2026. The programme, launched by the BMW Group, MTTC Iphitos and organiser MMP, gives disadvantaged children and teenagers access to tennis.

For every ace served during the tournament, one coaching hour will be donated at MTTC Iphitos. At last year’s event, 361 coaching hours were generated, allowing 16 young people to try tennis during a multi-day training camp. Six of them decided to continue and have since become part of the club’s regular programme.

The organisers also announced the main draw wild cards. Former champion Jan-Lennard Struff, who won the title in Munich in 2024, receives one of the invitations.

“I have very fond memories of my victory here, it gives me great feelings,” Struff said. “I just want to go for it. It is an incredibly strong field this year and I am really looking forward to the tournament week.”

The second wild card goes to 18-year-old German talent Justin Engel, while Belgium’s Alexander Blockx, who recently impressed in Monte Carlo, receives the final invitation.

World-class competition will also be on display at the Allianz Para Trophy. For the first time, the event will feature a Quad Division alongside the Open Division.

The Quad draw includes the current world No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, as well as Germany’s Marcus Laudan.

“We will see a lot of tactical tennis and different styles of play in a very strong and varied field,” Laudan said. “I am really excited for the premiere here.”

Tournament director Patrik Kühnen believes the event is stronger than ever.

“World-class tennis from the very first point and across all competitions – we could not ask for more from a sporting perspective and are proud to present what is probably the most attractive field in the history of this traditional tournament.”

“Our player field this year underlines that Munich, already in its second year as an ATP 500 tournament, has become a top address on the ATP Tour,” added organiser Christian Okon. “Combined with the special atmosphere and unique setup, we have all the ingredients for a fantastic tournament week.”
