BORDEAUX, April 21, 2026 (Media Release)
With just a few weeks to go before its 17th edition, the BNP Paribas Primrose – set to take place from May 11 to 17, 2026, at Villa Primrose in Bordeaux – has unveiled an initial entry list for its main draw. A key stop on the road to Roland-Garros, the ATP Challenger 175 tournament once again confirms its strong appeal among the players. The announcement was made during the official press conference held on Tuesday in the presence of guest of honor Henri Leconte.
For this new edition, the tournament will feature a highly competitive field composed entirely of Top 100 players, reflecting its high standards, ATP Tour-level playing conditions, and an attractive allocation of ranking points. Spectators can expect top-tier matchups and high-quality tennis throughout the week.
Top seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry (ARG, World No. 29), a finalist in Bordeaux in 2023 and a Roland-Garros quarterfinalist that same year, is enjoying an excellent start to the season, having captured the first title of his career in Rio de Janeiro in February. Second seed Tallon Griekspoor (NED, World No. 33) recently made headlines by reaching the final of the ATP 500 event in Dubai, notably defeating Andrey Rublev in the semifinals.
Several leading French players have already confirmed their participation and will aim to extend the nation’s strong presence at Villa Primrose since 2023. Fans will once again welcome defending champion Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (FRA, No. 53), returning for a third consecutive year. He will be joined by one of the breakout stars of 2025, Terence Atmane (FRA, No. 47), who recently reached a career-high ranking of No. 41 and has consolidated his Top 50 status with strong performances in Acapulco and Miami.
Also among the French contingent are Alexandre Muller (FRA, No. 95), who claimed his maiden ATP title in Hong Kong last December; Quentin Halys (FRA, No. 91), a tournament regular; and Benjamin Bonzi (FRA, No. 104), who could still join the final lineup. Promising young talent Luca Van Assche (FRA, No. 98), already present in 2024, will also return to compete on Bordeaux clay.
The US-American contingent will be well represented, featuring Ethan Quinn (USA, No. 48), currently at a career-high ranking and winner of the Phoenix Challenger 175 in March, alongside Jenson Brooksby (USA, No. 61) and Marcos Giron (USA, No. 76).
Two former champions will return to Bordeaux: Alexei Popyrin (AUS, No. 56), the 2022 winner who recently reached the quarterfinals in Houston, and big-serving Reilly Opelka (USA, No. 70), champion in 2018.
Former World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov (BUL, No. 137) will also compete in Bordeaux as he continues his return to top-level tennis. Coming back from a serious injury sustained at Wimbledon last year — where he was on the verge of upsetting Jannik Sinner — the Bulgarian star enters a new phase of his career with renewed ambition. His elegant style, highlighted by one of the most spectacular one-handed backhands on tour, promises to shine on Bordeaux clay.
Three wild cards, yet to be announced, will complete the field and further enhance the level of competition.
This momentum confirms the BNP Paribas Primrose’s role as a launchpad for the new generation of players, while also providing a key preparatory event for experienced competitors fine-tuning their clay-court game ahead of Roland-Garros.
The entry list remains subject to change depending on results from preceding tournaments, particularly the Rome Masters 1000, scheduled from May 6 to 17. The main draw ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 10, on the eve of the tournament’s official start.
The week will be punctuated by several key highlights centered around tennis and sport. In response to growing public enthusiasm for its unique atmosphere, night sessions have been expanded to four evenings this year. Ahead of the tournament, on May 9, the new inter-school event The School Clash will bring together over 2,500 students for a competition staged under professional conditions, illustrating BNP Paribas Primrose’s commitment to youth development and accessibility in tennis.
Year after year, the BNP Paribas Primrose continues to establish itself as a strategic stop on the ATP Challenger Tour — a true springboard for players seeking match rhythm and confidence ahead of Roland-Garros.
