BRAZZAVILLE/STARNBERG, May 7, 2026
The ATP Challenger Tour’s Central African swing reaches its final stop this week with the third edition of the Brazzaville Challenger, held at the Academie De Tennis De Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo. After back-to-back tournaments on clay in Kigali, Rwanda, followed by two weeks on hard courts at the Cote d’Ivoire Open in Abidjan, players now return to clay for the $63,000 ATP Challenger 50 event.
The tournament has steadily grown into an important fixture on the Challenger calendar, offering valuable ranking points and competitive opportunities for players looking to climb toward the ATP Tour. This year’s edition once again attracts an international field, led by top seed Florent Bax of France, currently ranked world No. 254.

Beyond the competition itself, the Brazzaville Challenger continues to highlight the development of professional tennis in Central Africa. Hosting an ATP Challenger event for the third consecutive year marks another significant step for tennis in the region, providing local fans with rare access to international-level competition and offering emerging African players a chance to compete against experienced professionals without traveling abroad.
The circuit will remain on the continent with the KIA Tunis Open taking place in Tunisia next week. The Challenger Tour will also soon be back in South Africa coming to Centurion for back-to-back tournaments scheduled for May 25 to June 7.
