LAVER CUP Media Release, May 7, 2026
The 23-year-old top-ranked American joins a strong Team World roster featuring World No.7 Taylor Fritz and World No.8 Alex de Minaur. To date, Team Europe has announced World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz and World No.3 Alexander Zverev, meaning five of the world’s top 10 players are already confirmed for this year’s event, with further player announcements to follow in the coming months.
Single-Session Tickets, providing a seat for one specific session of the tournament, go on sale Friday, May 15 at 10:00AM (BST) via AXS, the official ticketing partner of The O2. With prices starting at £45.49 inclusive of VAT and fees, there are five sessions to choose from, and each session includes at least two matches.
One of the most dynamic players on the ATP Tour, Shelton has established himself as a major force with his explosive left-handed game, powerful serve and fearless, attacking style. A semi-finalist at the 2023 US Open and 2025 Australian Open, the American has made a strong start to the year, already claiming two ATP titles in Dallas and Munich, taking his career tally to five.
A former NCAA Division I singles champion with the University of Florida, Shelton has embraced the team dynamic throughout his career and will make his third Laver Cup appearance in London. He has already made a significant impact in the competition, compiling a 6-2 record across Vancouver 2023 and Berlin 2024, and playing a key role in Team World’s title-winning campaign in Vancouver, where he won all of his matches. After missing last year’s event in San Francisco due to injury, he returns to the Laver Cup stage eager to make his mark again.
Shelton will compete under the leadership of Team World Captain Andre Agassi and Vice Captain Pat Rafter, for the first time.
“It’s always an honor to be part of Team World,” said Shelton. “Getting the chance to spend a week with legends like Andre and Pat, learning from them and competing alongside this group, is something I really value and that you don’t get anywhere else. I’ve got some great memories from Laver Cup already and I’m excited to get back out there in London with the guys.”
“Pat and I couldn’t be happier that Ben is joining the team,” said Agassi. “He is a dynamic talent that will help us in singles, doubles, as well as with his infectious energy in the locker room and from the bench.”
“There is also a unique layer to his participation as I played against his father, Bryan, numerous times and to be able to reconnect with him through this process adds a special element.”
The 2026 edition marks the Laver Cup’s return to London and The O2, the venue for one of the most iconic moments in tennis history, when Roger Federer played the final match of his career alongside his great rival Rafael Nadal and fellow “Big Four” members Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in 2022.
With Team World having claimed three of the last four Laver Cup titles, the rivalry between Europe and the World is set to be as intense as ever, with another fiercely contested showdown anticipated in London. Fans can expect world-class matchups, never-before-seen doubles pairings and the unique spectacle of rivals becoming teammates on the Laver Cup’s signature black court.
